B2ST prematurely ends mini-concert out of concern for fans

Due to their overwhelming popularity, B2ST had to actually pull the plug prematurely for their January 26th mini-concert. Reportedly, fans rushed to the front of the stage, and there were incidents of people being crushed as a result. The scene of the concert has been described as nothing short of ‘chaotic’.
To recap, B2ST was planning a joint event with BBQ Chicken called the ‘Mini Concert of Love with BBQ & B2ST‘ in Seoul. The boys were to auction off their personal belongings at the event, in which the proceeds would go towards helping children suffering from leukaemia.
Considering how the event was both a concert and an auction, fans poured into the hall and the scene quickly turned chaotic. Eventually, the members of B2ST  decided to stop the concert out of concerns for everyone’s safety.
While the proceeds from the ‘Mini Concert of Love’ will still go towards helping the charitable fund, the host of the event is currently facing harsh criticisms from angry fans who felt that the scene could have been controlled better.

B2ST tops album pre-order charts in Japan!

It’s a ‘beastly’ indication of their impending success in JapanB2ST’s Japanese debut single, ‘SHOCK’, has topped the album pre-order charts from Tower Records Japan!
On January 25th, fans noted that B2ST  had locked down the top two spots on the chart with their “SHOCK [CD + DVD] Limited Edition C” at #1, and “Limited Edition B” at #2.

But it’s not just their CDs that are carving niches – B2ST’s first DVD, ‘SO, BEAST – THE CLIPS’ placed 5th on the chart.
Considering how the group managed to land 50% of the slots in the ‘top 10′, many are commenting on the level of anticipation for B2ST’s powerful debut.
A representative from the Japanese music industry mused, “It’s rare to see a debut album take over half the charts. B2ST will be a top candidate in sweeping Japan as a new boy group.”
They continued, “It’s anticipated that B2ST will create another sensation in Japan, considering how they have a solid level of popularity in Korea as well.”
Last year in November, B2ST successfully held their first Japanese showcase with 10,000 fans in attendance.

B2ST auctions off personal items during BBQ mini-concert

On January 26th, chicken company BBQ held a ‘BBQ B2ST Mini-Concert‘ in Seoul.
During the event, personal items belonging to the individual members of B2ST were auctioned off, and the profits made will be used to benefit children suffering from leukemia.
In order to attend this event, the public was asked to visit BBQ Chicken’s official website and leave a comment to the statement, “Reason(s) why BBQ chicken is good for using extra virgin olive oil and 100% organic chickens.” 2,000 individuals were chosen at random, and received an invitation to watch B2ST’s mini-concert this afternoon, although it was delayed for close to 2 hours after some fans got overzealous and started pushing around, creating safety concerns for others.

Affiliated members of BBQ commented, “This will be a multiple beneficial event where a customer can enjoy eating BBQ chicken at a reduced price, use the event comment box to have a chance of meeting B2ST, and know that the money they donate to the auction will be used for good purposes. We will try hard to make sure that customers are satisfied knowing that they are participating.”

B2ST’s Yoseob is too short to pinch 2AM Jinwoon’s cheeks

Fans are swooning over an adorable fancam of 2AM’s Jinwoon and B2ST’s Yoseob playing around together during the recording for MBC’s “Idol Star Athletics & Swimming Championships“.
On January 25th, the 30-second video was uploaded to various different community sites under the name, “Jung Jinwoon & Yang Yoseob’s crazy mutiny”. Fans were able to see the two idols tussling with each other in an attempt to pinch the other’s cheeks.
Despite Yoseob being a hyung to Jinwoon – Yoseob was born in 1990, and Jinwoon was born in 1991 – the B2ST member was unable to reach up and pinch the cheeks of 2AM’s maknae. Yoseob stands at 170cm tall, while Jinwoon’s height is recorded at 185cm.
So how did they decide to overcome the height disparity?
The two made up for the 15 cm difference by warmly embracing each other instead.
Netizens commented, “This is so adorable!,” “Jinwoon is the dongseng, but hyung Yoseob looks so much cuter,” and “They look like couples playing.

B2ST’s Yoseob cast in “Gwanghwamun Sonata” musical

B2ST’s Yoseob, who was recently cast for the musical “Gwanghwamun Sonata,” attended the production conference at the Seoul Plaza Hotel’s Grand Ballroom on January 24th.
He began by revealing that he was hesitant to take up the cast offer. “When my company first asked me if I knew of any song by composer Lee Young Hoon, I realized that I didn’t. When they asked me whether I knew ‘Red Sunset,‘ I said that I had heard it before.  The company told me that I could be considered for a role in the musical, ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata,’ which left me worried since I didn’t know any song by composer Lee.
Yoseob continued, “Afterwards, I found out more about the composer and heard more things about senior Lee Moon Sae and director Lee Jina; I then wanted to take part in the musical. I’ll be working hard to ensure that I do not cause harm to the musical.
Yoseob will be playing as ‘Jiyong,’ the son of the two leading roles.
Director Lee Jina added, “Yang Yoseob and Heo Gyu were double-cast for one role. The difference between their ages are vast, but I think Yoseob will fit the role since he’s closer to the age of ‘Jiyong.’  Heo Gyu is a bit older, but because of his youthful looks, he’ll be able to bring out the 21-year-old ‘Jiyong.’”
Over 30 songs will be used for the musical, which is scheduled to run from March 20th to April 10th at the Sejong Culture Theater Hall.

A confirmed list of idol star participants for “Idol Star Athletics Championship”

130 idol members have confirmed their participation in the upcoming MBC ‘Idol Star Athletics and Swimming Championships‘ for the Lunar New Year Special. The ‘Idol Star Swimming and Athletics Championships’ will be broadcasted as a two-day special for February 5th and 6th, and it was created after the great success of the original ‘Idol Star Athletics Championships‘, which was aired last year during Chuseok.
The athletics championships will be recorded at the Seoul Songpa-Gu Jamsil Stadium and Gymnasium, where they will record a total of 24 races including the 100m sprints, 50m hurdle, and high jump.
Confirmed idol stars for the competition include 2PM, 2AM, TRAX, T-ara, miss A, Brown Eyed Girls, B2ST, SHINee, Son Ho Young, SECRET, SISTAR, IU, After School, Lee Hyun (of 8eight), f(x), NS Yoonji, and MBLAQ. Unfortunately, SNSD will not be able to participate due to clashing schedules with their Japanese promotions.
That being said, idol attendees for the swimming championships (held on January 30th) are yet to be confirmed. Netizens are particularly interested in After School UEE’s status, as she previously expressed her wish for the addition of a swimming component.
On the 19th, Kim Yoo Gun PD stated, “UEE’s participation in the athletics championship has been confirmed, however the schedule for the swimming competition is yet to be finalized. UEE’s attendance in the swimming championship has not yet been decided, and it’s been harder for us to come out with a decision due to the rising interest from the netizens. UEE herself feels burden by the excessive attention.”
He continued, “We’re cooperating with the National Athletics Federation for these championships. Foreign nations receive a lot of popularity through the World Cup or the Olympics, however for Korea, we haven’t been able to expose this department even during big events. Through these Idol Athletics and Swimming championships, we’d like it if the nation’s athletics and swimming fields received more interest from the general public.”

Rainbow was praised for their work ethic, as these girls threw away their personal reservations to deliver the best ‘variety show dates’ for B2ST!
The girls guested on MBC’s new gag show, “For the First Time“, and were paired up with the B2ST boys in an effort to test their variety skills.  Acting as their blind dates, Rainbow showed off their various personal talents, such as ballet and pansori.
Hilariously, the members made a 180-degree transformation midway through their talent performance, by pulling off body gags through ballet and delivering a pansori version of B2ST’s “Shock.
The members of B2ST were unable to hide their surprise over the situation, and attempted to escape from it as best as they could.
MC Jung Hyung Don, who watched over their blind date, commented, “I want to buy Rainbow a meal for working so hard without worrying about their image.“  Other cast members agreed, and praised Rainbow for not only their acting, but for the way they ran the full length to pull off their assigned roles.

[INT] 091117 Yoseob's 10ASIA interview (An old 1)

Yoon Heesung (nine@10asia.co.kr)

My name is Yang Yoseub.

I was born on January 5, 1990.

I have one older sister. You can think of her as me but with a smaller face, smaller body, and long hair. The truth is that my mom and dad look similar too. If the four of us stand together, even from far away people say, “Oh, they’re a family!”

I first started practicing singing after I listened to Brian McKnight’s music. After that, I listened to a lot of music of a similar style, but I thought about it and realized that I couldn’t be biased towards certain music. So I also started listening to dance music and rock.

I was in a band when I was in high school. At that time, we performed a lot of hard rock and metal, but the truth is that I wanted to try modern rock. But my sunbaes said that it would ruin the mood and forbade it. Even now, modern rock is a genre that personally, I really want to try.

Originally, I'm artistically or musically talented because I take after my dad. I couldn’t dance. Because I’ve practiced, I’ve reached this level with difficulty. (Doojoon: Yoseub learns the fastest now. Junhyung: He can even make choreography by himself.)

My hairstyle changed dramatically, but I think it was a successful transformation, so I like it. It’s to the point where the members look at old pictures of me with black hair and think I look weird. They keep telling me to bleach it, but it’s a bit sad. Since I’m Asian, black hair keeps growing…

On KBS <Star Golden Bell>, the PD said I looked like a shi tzu, and my mom was really happy when she saw that episode. Since I received one more camera shot. She complimented me on tying my hair.

Honestly, my manly/sexy side is disappearing, and I used to not like being called cute. I would just throw on clothes to wear carelessly, and I couldn’t act silly. But now that’s become a part of my color, so I accept it, and I even mess around more enthusiastically.

Maybe it’s because started filming videos a long time ago, but when people ask me to perform, instead of being embarrassed I try to make something good out of it. Even in front of a blue screen, I’m not embarrassed. If you type in “Yang Yoseub” in a search engine, a lot of videos come out. Look them up when you’re bored!

When Dongwoon is only with us, he’s really fun, to the point where at first, MTV <B2ST> PD said that Dongwoon and I had the biggest chance to succeed in entertainment. But as soon as the camera gets in his face, he’s not fun anymore. So he’s slowly becoming more awkward, his screen time is shrinking, and the kid seems like he’s going to develop a speech impediment, plus he’s aging more and more. Hahaha.

Doojoon has a strong sense of responsibility, and even if something is taken care of, he has to check the process himself before he’s satisfied. So if Doojoon wasn’t here [in BEAST] we probably wouldn’t have been able to do interviews, music programs, anything. You see, Doojoon wakes up first and wakes up all the other members.

At home, the members like to play games like “Winning Eleven,” but at those times, everyone’s desire to win is no joke. Kikwang kept saying that he would cancel the patbingsoo debt he owed Doojoon after he lost a bet, but eventually he had to buy patbingsoo for everyone in the house. At that time, I think he used more than 20,000 won? (approx. $20 ish) Hahaha.

Cube Entertainment artists complete a successful Hallyu concert in Malaysia

Cube Entertainment artists headed over to Malaysia on January 13th to take part in a Hallyu concert, which managed to bring in a 5,000 member audience.
Held at the Stadium Negara, the “DiGi LIVE K-POP PARTY 2011” was the first large-scale Hallyu concert ever held in Malaysia, and included over 100 different news agencies, along with VIP Malaysian figures.
Prior to the concert, DiGi held a survey asking which K-POP star fans wanted to see.  Cube artists dominated the poll by taking first, and the event ended up being a small Cube Entertainment concert with  4minute, B2ST, and G.NA performing.

Cube officials commented, “This was B2ST’s second visit to Malaysia, but the first for 4minute and G.NA.  They received a tremendous amount of attention from many fans, and every time they were re-located, fans gathered to greet them.  We were truly able to feel the Hallyu wave.
At the press conference held at the Hilton Hotel, press from not only Malaysia, but Thailand and the Philippines, were present as well. Cube continued, “Reporters were especially interested in G.NA, as she is awaiting her comeback next week.  G.NA showed her potential as a global star by responding to all questions 100% in English on her own, which brought out a passionate response from the reporters.  It was like seeing the birth of a new Asian star.
G.NA opened for the concert, followed by 4minute, and then ending with B2ST.  B2ST is currently preparing for their encore concerts next month while 4minute is preparing for their comeback album.
G.NA will be releasing her title track, “BLACK & WHITE,” on January 18th.
