Group BEAST is stepping up the plate to face the Olympics.
BEAST's management, Cube Entertainment, stated, "We are in the process of finishing up the new 5th mini album. At this rate, the album promotion time will overlap with the London Olympics, but we do not plan on purposely avoiding it."
BEAST's plans for promoting during the end of July is an unusual decision. Other artists choose to avoid the time when the 2012 London Olympics will begin so there are high anticipation for the results. In reality, with the start of this month, music programs are packed with artists making their comeback. More than 3 different groups are making a comeback now all trying to avoid the Olympics. In addition, for teams with preparation times delaying even further, they are planning their comeback after the month of August.
However for BEAST, there is no way and no reasons to avoid the Olympics. They are focusing on the fact that the Olympics are taking place in England with a 8 hour difference from the Korean time. They believe that it won't delay or cancel any music programs with live broadcasts from the events. In addition, they have end of the year World Tour to finish up so they can not have any delay releasing their album. They plan to fully enjoy the experience since they can't avoid it.
In the past, avoiding the Olympics did not always correlate to good promotions. In 2008, on the opening date of the Beijing Olympics on August 8th, Big Bang released their 3rd mini album 'Stand Up' and Girls Generation had released their second album 'Oh!' for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and both resulted in good grades.
One official stated, "For groups with the standard popularity, it's important that they highlight the great sports event in their advertising methods." He added, "If they use the public event well in their promotions, it will be very beneficial for them."
