[NEWS] 120720 BEAST's competition with Psy? "First place will go to the music the public likes"

BEAST expressed that Psy is one of their favorite musicians despite the competition that will be happening in the matter of days.

On the 20th at 4:30PM, BEAST attended the 5th mini album 'Midnight Sun' release press conference at Seoul Chungnamdong. At Double Date, BEAST members stated, "We are competing with Psy sunbaenim on the music charts. We really like Psy sunbaenim. We enjoy listening to 'Gangnam Style' when we are in the practice room. Because it's a song the public likes, it's obvious that it will win first place. We have a lot of good songs on the mini album too, so I hope our songs will be loved like Psy sunbaenims."

BEAST has attempted 180 change with tho album. Even though the BEAST members are expressing positive opinions, its the truth that they are still nervous what the public might think.

BEAST's Yang Yoseob sated, "I even wrote on twitter that I was scared of change. I'm worried that the public might not like the title song even though we worried a lot before picking it. We thought it wouldn't be bad to show off a different side of us because the fans waited 1 year and 2 months. At the same time we think that the public will be disappointed in us if we don't show a different side."

He added, "This is the greatest album that came out after we all put our head together. Change, we are confident about it. Especially I was overwhelmed by the solo dance I have. I don't have confidence in dance and when I dance I get nervous. I think that's why the dance teaser gave me solo dancing parts to begin with. For the solo dance part I had to stay behind after all the members left for practice. I will show a different side of me."

BEAST had released their 5th mini album with 6 songs in a year and 2 months. Their first song was 'Midnight' which portrayed the night setting of someone unable to sleep from the pains of love. The title song 'It's a Beautiful Nght' is the electronic synth-pop that broke the BEAST's past image in a heart beat.

About the comeback in a year and 2 months

▶ These days, if it had been a year and 2 months since comeback and album release, it's really long. We just kept thinking to ourselves that the album will come soon. We thought that when we released a good album, the fans will comeback to us. We were planning to release the album in May, but it got delayed. We could have made it in time, but we thought what's the point if there is no change. That's why 'It's a Beautiful Night' came out.


About competition with Psy

▶ We really like Psy and we enjoy listening to his music in the practice room. Since it's a song that the public likes, he is already in front of us. We have a lot of good songs on the mini album too, so I hope our songs will be loved like Psy sunbaenims.


About working with the new composers

▶ After listening to the song over and over again, we decided on this song as our title song. Listening to the song we couldn't ignore the seasons, we had to make a style change trying out music we never did, and we wanted to go with a song that all of the BEAST members liked. And that song was the song from the new composer. So of course we chose their song. We don't have a promotional period, but we will perform this song until we are loved. If we are loved a lot, we will sing this song a lot too.


About the World Tour

▶ Through the many stages from the World Tour I believe that the member were able to learn how to enjoy the stage. We thought that if we had fun, then the audience will have fun too. I believe that will be true this time around as well. We didn't real have a set list in Japan, so we can't say anything for sure.

About the choreography

▶ If you look at the music video, there isn't a scene where we are dancing to choreography. We just filmed us in a happy and fun party mood, but there are dance we configured our selves, as well as group choreography. There will be an amazing performance so anticipate. And that doesn't mean we are jumping around everywhere.


About change

▶ If we came out with the image in 'Fiction' or any other like we had used coming back in a year a 2 months, we thought that people will say we can only do this style of music. So we decided to change it up with something we learned from performing. All six of us chose the songs well and worked hard recording it.


How BEAST feels about change

▶ We are scared for change. It's the truth that we are worried even though this is a song we decided on with a lot of consideration. We thought it wouldn't be bad to show off a different side of us because the fans waited 1 year and 2 months. The goal for this album

▶ We have no specific ones. People around us say that we should get first place 4 weeks in a row. If awards are compensation for the amount of effort you put in, then we want to get first place 4 weeks in a row.

After releasing the short audio teaser yesterday, B2ST is back to tease fans further with a music video teaser!

The clip shows scenes shot in New York for their upcoming music video for the new title track,“Beautiful Night”, which is said to be a dramatic dance track from the electro-synth pop genre.

After rolling around and rustling on the bed like it's my solo acrobatic show
I ended up coming down the ladder to sit in front of my computer and complain

Always before comeback I feel like that I can't satisfy myself no matter how hard I try
Thinking that the songs we prepared will disappoint the fan or the public..
To be honest, I think I tend to worry more than I anticipate..


Um.. don't be afraid of change..I'm reminded by these words..
But to be honest how can you not be afraid of change..
I think change is such a scary thing..

Of course I'm always thinking to myself "This change is going to be successful" but,
At the same time a corner of my heart is thinking the bad thought, "Well… would it really be that successful?"
I guess I can't help it because I'm human..haha
This isn't only happening to me, but I'm sure the Cube staff members..BEAST's friends..Are all thinking the same thing. (If not oh well)


..Ack I'm rambling trying to write out my thoughts I didn't even organize in my mind..
I feel like I'm have been writing the same thing and erasing it for an hour now.
I still have a lot of say, but I'm sleepy so I'll stop here..keke

Anyways…BEAST is standing at the starting line again.
Maybe it's because the start gun didn't fire yet, but I'm nervous to the point I might throw up.
We will run well in the future zoom zoom!! Cheer for us a lot.. and cherish us..
