[INT] 120718 Elle Girl Korea "It's BEAST Way"

It's been a while since these men passed their personal wishes and became the official keywords that represent Korea's public media. The extravagant choreography of the girl fans oppas. Bling bling style. The flower boy smile and fresh six pack. Even though as the "aunt editor" I can't say I'm not attracted to them, but there is a whole new different reason why these men attract attention from girl fans. They attract attention because whether you are watching a broadcast or reading an interview, you can't help but to be touched by the fact that their challenges, mistakes, and even glorious moments are what helped them grow. The reason why a corner of your heart was proud watching the 'win win' of BEAST is there too. It's almost like you are an eye witness to a heart warming story of how good things will follow after passion and effort. Yoon Doojoon. Yong Junhyung. Lee Kikwang. Yang Yoseob. Jang Hyunseung. Son Dongwoon. These six men made who had cherished their failures were made into a team and quickly gained popularity with modern music and performance, and now became the KPOP star group who travel all around the world capturing the heart of fans. The rookies team not even 3 years old who we had met with before debut is now selling the magazine with their cover story. How can there be a better reunion? After exactly two days since filming their music video in New York, BEAST had gathered in a studio located in Hamnamdong for the cover shooting. The drastic change in the members hair color foreshadowed the changes to come in their next album. Chic faced Jang Hyunseung greeted us by saying that he read the interview on the July edition well and Junhyung went around the studio greeting each staff properly. With the help of stylist Jung Yoongi, BEAST got dressed in black suits and started to fill the camera with their fierceness. Despite the hot weather and busy photoshoot, the members worked efficiently in front of the cameras. In the interview session after, Doojoon and Yoseob started the conversation babbling to each other like brothers and Dongwoon had brought laughters with his comments in between. Kikwang, who had been listening to the members talk for a while started to talk about BEAST's dreams and goals once the topic of the new album came up. The men who used to be completely different started to resemble each other, they would gain strength by putting their hands together a shouting "fighting." and these men are still putting forth their effort to be recognized as "awesome BEAST." With their comment of, "Everything we said up to now came true," BEAST will continue to open new pathways and challenges for them to accomplish.

EG: Two days ago you guys came back from filming a music video in New York. How was your time in New York?
Yoseob: We happened to arrive when there was a heat wave so it was really hot. Filming in the weather almost reaching 37 degrees, we sweated a lot and it was really difficult.
Junhyung: I got sweat rashes and neck pains and it still hasn't gone away.
Dongwoon: Compared to there, today's weather is so nice. This level is like the autumn.

EG: And you guys didn't have time to enjoy New York?
Yoseob: We stayed there for 5 days, but it was basically a short stay (laughs)
Dongwoon: We filmed for 4 days and rested one.
Kikwang: But still we shopped and freely went around the city.

EG: Along with the KPOP wave you guys are promoting in different parts of the world, but which member is the one most comfortable overseas? Someone who matches an unfamiliar place and people well.
Doojoon: I realized this when we were in New York, but Dongwoon is really outgoing. He's not even good at English, but maybe it's because of this foreign image? (laughs)
Yoseob: In New York we filmed with the locals there. I was scared that they were going to talk to me in English, but Dongwoon was good at conversations.
Dongwoon: There were a lot of people interested in the Korean media there. So I told them I'll buy them soju (alcohol) and samgeupsal (Korean BBQ) when they come to Korea.

EG: On the other hand, was there a member who had the worst condition in New York?
Hyunseung: Yoseob. He eats well, but can't deal with the jet lag.
Yoseob: That's true. When I go overseas I get a lot of nightmares. It's to the point I can't sleep.

EG: Is there a special reason why you guys filmed in New York?
Kikwang: We always used to film in sets and this was out first location filming. Using the New York buildings, streets, and rooftops as the reference points we filmed the carefree night and day.
Doojoon: To be honest, filming in New York isn't easy for any artists. We took a big courageous step. Each members opinion was different. I personally think it's better to film in a location with a natural backdrop than the made sets.

EG: The spoiler pictures of you guys in New York were already all up on the internet?
Kikwang: The world is one. (laughs)
Dongwoon: There were picture the staff at the filming location took, but people also started taking pictures when guys with the strange hairstyles were filming in the streets.

EG: With the comeback approaching, a lot of your styles changed. Especially your hair styles! Was the styling your ideas as well?
Hyunseung: I recommended the red color for my own hair. I never had gotten my hair dyed red before.
Junhyung: I usually just stick to whatever the professionals tell me and once again I was the one trying out the challenging style. I'm scared this time too. I wonder what the responses will be like?

EG: What do you think is the reason why many fans cheer for BEAST? Last time when we met, Hyunseung commented that he didn't know.
Yoseob: It's because of KPOP. It doesn't even make sense for us to stay that we won with our own charms. Because KPOP is loved, BEAST inside the genre of KPOP is loved as well.
Doojoon: It's all thanks to Yoseob. Most of the fans overseas are all Yang Yoseob fans.
Hyunseung: He probably wanted to say that.
Yoseob: No. No. No. N… that's right (laughs)

EG: Tomorrow (July 11th) is BEAST's 1000th day since debut. How does it feel?
Doojoon: I can't help but to be reminded of Lee Seunghwan's song "For a Thousand Days"
All: (as if they are all signing) "For a thousand days~"
Dongwoon: I think the time went by really fast. Before debut I couldn't even go to performances in clubs because I was under age, but now I'm 22 already.
Yoseob: A lot of things happened. Everything we said up to now came true. (EG: How amazing! What are some of the things?) We got first place on the big broadcasting channels, we won daesang (grand award), we had a concert, we even did a world tour. Everything we wanted to do. It came true. In particular, we had no idea the world tour would come this fast. We have to watch what we say next time. (laughs)

EG: The audience only sees BEAST, but behind you guys there must be a lot of trainers. Looking back, who are you guys the most thankful to?
Dongwoon: Our parents.
Yoseob: Our family was our big strength and manager hyungs really worked hard for us. There a lot of times when we would whine and complain to them.
Doojoon: I am thankful to everyone who helped us along the way, but to be honest the six of us worked hard and suffered through a lot. We must acknowledge what we have to.
Yoseob: I acknowledge!

EG: With members you spent 1000 days, do you guys know what each member is thinking just by eye contact or do you still get surprised from time to time?
Doojoon: The experience of being surprised from finding out something… disappeared about 2 years ago. I think we all know what each member is thinking just by facial expressions.
Yoseob: And I think we think the same things. When someone says something, they only just said it first and most of the other members are thinking the same thing.

EG: From the outside you guys have different charms. How do you guys fulfill teamwork through that?
Doojoon: Yes, we were really different. But suddenly we were resembling each other from thoughts to actions. Even down to the part where we find our balance, like Hyunseung became dirtier and I became cleaner. (laughs)

EG: Is there something you guys say before going on stage?
Dongwoon: We put our hands together and shout "fighting"
Doojoon: No matter what stage it is, we have to do that. But it has to be only once.
Yoseob: We can't do it twice. It's our own jinx.
Kikwang: Strangely, after that fighting, I feel like I have more strength
Junhyung: How should I explain? It's like the feeling of pulling out your sword.

EG: Do the members express affection well? Like using words such as thank you and I cherish you?
Doojoon: Considering that we are men, we express affection a lot.
Junhyung: We do it through our phone messengers a lot. There is a chatting room where all 6 members are in.
Dongwoon: Even when we were in the same room or car we talk in that chat room. It's fun.

EG: Who is the member that loves the latest electronics?
Junhyung: Um… that would have to be me. To be honest, a while back I couldn't handle not having a new phone that I had it quick delivered to me. When I see a new product out I immediately want to buy it. I don't have greed for other things, but when it comes to machines I need to have it.

EG: Don't you guys have any interest in personal savings and accounting?
Yoseob: All of us aren't interested in that yet. We leave the money handling to our parents.
Hyunseung: I kind of got interested in my own money, stocks, and the real estate. Of course money isn't the most important living, but I think it's something you need to take care of well.
Junhyung: I started a small fund a while back, but if it does well I'll let you guys know. (laughs)

EG: There are so many new boy groups. Is there a team that catches your eyes these days?
Yoseob: Yes. There are so many. It's to the point I get awkward when I go to music programs.
Junhyung: These isn't any group in particular, but I think everyone does so well these days. I think that we should continue to do better.

EG: There are more members in the Cube family as well. Are you guys close with the fellow artists in your company?
Yoseob: How should I say it? We think like we are the "grand parents." We just hope that everyone does well in a short amount of time.
Doojoon: And then we hope that they will take care of us well. (laughs) When I look at BTOB, I think their condition right now is so much better than our condition when we debuted.
Junhyung: That's right. Since we were the first, there were more difficult things.

EG: When you guys become busy and gain popularity, there are things are you drift away from. Family, friends, and maybe yourselves. Do you guys ever wonder about that?
Doojoon: I think the time period when we used to wonder about that passed. Even just until last year we had such a hard time with that, but I think we all found our own ways. If I can't meet a friend, I call them to a place where I can be at.
Hyunseung: I agree!
Dongwoon: I think we learned to become more callous to difficulty and loneliness.
Junhyung: When you are busy and gain popularity, you move the furthest away from your family. Our parents are curious so they ask a lot of things, but because we are busy we answer bluntly. Now I don't think our parents worry as much as they used to.

EG: We wonder how you guys each relieve stress. How about you, Yoseob?
Doojoon: He watches TV like a house wife.
Yoseob: I play fighting games thinking of Doojoon (laughs). I get stressed easily and relieve it easily. I'm kind of bipolar.

EG: We heard that Junhyung mostly spends his days working on his music.
Junhyung: I don't always work on my music, but when I take a break, I take a break in the recording studio. I watch TV, play games, and when I get good ideas I even work there. I tell the members to come over and play songs that I worked on or call Yoseob so he can record a guide song for me.
Yoseob: I'm being used. (laughs) Dongwoon like legos.
Dongwoon: Yeah, I collect legos and I bought one in New York too. I think when I am making things, the six hours just fly by without much thought.
Yoseob: And he looks really happy when he is focusing.
Dongwoon: With legos or figures, they just stay there. It almost feels like they are protecting me. Thinking things like that help my mind be at peace. (Kikwang: Peace!)

EG: Then how about Doojoon and Kikwang? Doojoon you like sports right?
Doojoon: Yes I play soccer often and these days I'm into martial arts too so I test it on Yoseob.
Yoseob: He tries out joint twists and jujitsu then asks me if it hurts. It hurts the moment he lays his hand on me.
Kikwang: I just have to be moving at all times. If I stay inside I feel claustrophobic and I just want to go outside. When there is no one home, I watch variety show programs and laugh. I am a fan of "Infinity Challenge."
Junhyung: That is probably why he does well on variety show programs. The Kikwang we know is quiet, but when he goes on programs he talks so well.
Doojoon: He has been an MC for 'Win Win' for two years now. I hope that he continues to stay active in the future.

EG: Hyunseung, tomorrow is your first performance for Mozart! right? Did you invite your members?
Doojoon: Yes. But it feels like we already saw the whole show. It's to the point we memorized the songs.
Yoseob: Hyunseung practices a lot. In the dorms. In the car.
Hyunseung: I have been kicked out of the dorm before. For being too loud.
Yoseob: Tomorrow he gets to show us the fruits of his labor. I hope he does well.

EG: The upcoming July has BEAST's comeback. Do you guys feel overwhelmed that you have to show off a better stage? Or do you just want to enjoy it?
Kikwang: It's an album we are releasing in a year and 3 months so yes. The fans and the public have a vague image of what BEAST is like. I think that they are all wondering what concept we will be out with next. Because that was what I was like when I was a fan. We can't help but to feel overwhelmed at the fans anticipation and public attention, but we are sure that this concept and styling will be new, but still match us well.

EG: If you guys can give us a hint about music and performance?
Yoseob: In all the songs we sang we were rejected. Always the guy who faced a breakup. Starting from "Are you really throwing me away" to getting a "Shock." This time around we will have a song with a different feel, anticipate.

EG: What does BEAST want to fulfill with this comeback?
Hyunseung: We want to show how much we suffered in America. (laughs)
Junhyung: Of course we want good results, but I want to hear the words "that team is really good."
Kikwang: I want the response "Wow, that album is amazing." Of course from our fans, but also fans of other artists and friends.
Yoseob: Awesome BEAST! That's the best one

BEAST on K-POP★BOYS

Their Japanese debut single wins strong popularity

Said by BEAST,

The thankful hearts and dream for the fans

2011 March 16th, the『SHOCK』album released in Japan,

was able to record the highest as the K-POP group’s debut song.

With the fan expectations rising, how will BEAST plan their future?

─ You guys had the first solo concert in Seoul on December and an encore performance of that concert on February. How does it feel to have completed both of that?

Hyunseung: It was the best moment of my life that the dream I had since pre-debut came true. Even though it was hard trying to prepare for the concert and go through the schedules, I was happy practicing and imagining the stage. Thanks to the crowd that packed the stadium, I think that was the main reason why we were able to give all we had. But still there are parts that I would we could improve on and focus more one so I want to improve even more before the next performance.

Doojoon: Other than work, we basically spent the whole day in the gymnasium (laughs). Since it was the first concert we had to invest a lot of time into with our name on the line, we strongly thought that we had to show them the best stage so we couldn’t let out guard down. I still distinctly remember the moment with shouts loud enough to shake the stage as soon as the concert started,

Junhyung: It was really like a dream. I couldn’t really realize it when the concert stated, but when we stood in front of the many fans that came to see us, I was overwhelmingly happy and thankful.

Kikwang: As soon as the gathered fans screamed out our name, my feeling rose up in a second. After hearing that fans not just from Korea, but all of Asia, America, and Europe came, I was really touched.

─ It seems like that BEAST is a group very concerned about their live skills. How do you guys want to perform in the future?

Junhyung: Our biggest wish is to not lose the distinct color of BEAST and to show off a stage of our own with own charms that we molded and cleaned. It is important that we make a stage to return all your love and to make a stage that people will think “Of course, that’s BEAST” !

─ When did you guys realize that you guys were receiving a lot of love other than just the love from Korean fans?

Doojoon: We were surprised to see so many fans from other parts of Asia at the encore performance in February. They traveled the long way on purpose just to see us, and I thought that we had to show them the best stage without saving any sort of energy.

Dongwoon: When I see the fans greeting us at the airport whenever we have a performance overseas I realize it. I was also surprised when they were singing along with us when we were singing. Even outside of Asia, we get a lot of messages from fans in different countries through the internet and I’m really fascinated and thankful for it because sometimes the messages are from fans in countries we never visited. If we get the chance, I want to visit more countries.

─ At the concert the ‘I Like You the Best’ MV was released. It finally completed the story of the ‘Beautiful’ MV, but how did it feel filming at MV in a drama style?

Kikwang: Since it was the first MV with a set story, it was really fun. It had been a while since I wore the school uniform (laughs) and other than just a fight for the girl between Junhyung and me, I think that the viewers can also see the friendship of the two men who love music and dance. The main actor was me, but since Junhyung was a good actor, he was able to be spotted on the emotional scenes.

Hyunseung: I think we were able to show that BEAST can not only sing and dance, but act as well. The role I played was the role of the older sunbae (most experienced), I made a lot of NGs with laughing due to the heaviness of the lines (laughs).

Dongwoon: These two music videos remain in my mind particularly because we made it with the fans. Everyone was cold, but we were able to receive warm love from the fans who went out more than themselves and cared about us as well. Thanks to them, even thought the filming continued for a few days, we were able to handle it fine.

Thoughts toward the debut in Japan

─ The debut song『Shock!』is the memorable song that got you guys the first place for the first time in Korea.

Yoseob: Yes that is true. But other than that, the song serves as a big importance for us because it combines the strong performance and powerful sound that defines the color of BEAST. It was thanks to this song that we got our own color with the rock bass sound full of manliness and was win a lot of love from everyone (laughs)

─ In Japan, the DVD with the MVs and video clips was released. What can we see in it?

Kikwang: The title is『Genesis of Beast』. In this DVD, the story of each member from the days of early debut times until now. It starts from the time we first got into CUBE and watching the story following after, I thought of many things as well (laughs). I believe that anyone can do it if they give everything they got and not lose the initial goal in mind.

Yoseob: Every music video is special to me so it is hard for me to choose just one, but out of the recent ones that we filmed together, the Japanese version of the 『Shock!』music video has a strong impression on me. It was the first MV that we presented to the Japanese fans who have been waiting our debut for a long time, so we filmed it with a new goal in mind.

Junhyung: The CUBE family ski resort videos of pre debut and the videos that have not been revealed is there as well, so people should be able to enjoy it!

─ What kind of event was the showcase that was held in Japan on November for you guys?

Yoseob: I still can remember the screams and shouts I heard. Also, I was really touched by word making event before the showcase. I heard that many people waited for a long time preparing the event despite the cold weather. Watching the fans from the helicopter was really an amazing sight. In particular, I was really touched after hearing that there was a fan that participated in the word making in a wheel chair. I want to use this time to thank her once again!

Dongwoon: I think of it as a good experience having the first showcase on that big stage with that big cluster of fans. I was really happy when they started to sing along as well! I gained confidence from singing in front of everyone cheering fervently and made a determination that I had to work even harder.

Junhyung: Singing along to the song was one thing, but I was really surprised to see them sing along with perfect cheer sounds in between (laughs).

─ What is the goal for BEAST in Japan?

Doojoon: Since pre-debut to until now, our goal is to let a lot of people aware of BEAST as an artist with our performance and singing. That would probably mean winning first place on the Oricon charts, but our main goal is to be that group that will be able to remain in people’s hearts for a long time and be able to promote for a long time.

Junhyung: Thanks to everyone, our expectations and goals are growing even bigger with each day (laughs). Along with that, our motivation is rising as well. Our goal is to continually show our growth and present a fun stage to many people

─ You guys have already experienced many event in Japan. What do you think about Japanese fans?

Yoseob: I think they think about us a lot. They show bring us loud cheers in performances, but at the same time, when we are moving to our next schedule and we happened to meet, they would take a step back and carefully watch over us. In those instances I am the first one to say something to initiate the conversation (laughs).

Hyunseung: Thinking that they wouldn’t know us well as our Korean fans was a big mistake on my part (laughs). They work really hard which makes me wonder if they know everything about us, but then they already knew our personalities from variety programs as well! But I think it really sweet that they are willing to love us for who we are. And before, I watched a video where a group copied our dance and they were really good. I was really happy to know that we were getting loved.

─ Please leave a message for the Japanese fans.

Doojoon: I am just really thankful for the constant love towards us. And finally the time has come for us to return that love! Thanks to you guys we were able to start well with our Japanese debut single in second place on the Oricon chart. We won’t let go of this opportunity and work hard!

Dongwoon: I think the time has come for us to come to you guys. So that you guys will be a pro in all things BEAST, we will be prepared to fight (laughs).

Yoseob: It feels like that we debuted in Korea just yesterday, but Japan this time! I’m feeling dizzy for some reason (laughs). I was really happy that many fans came to the showcase. In the future we will work hard in both Korea and Japan!

Kikwang: I am always thankful for your love. I was really happy watching you guys even more excited when our album placed 6th and our single placed 2nd on the Oricon chart. We will work harder to share even more happiness with you guys.

Junhyung: I was really happy to perform in front of 10,000 fans even before our official debut. The moment we make our official debut in Japan, we will work hard to show off a better stage. I really want to get closer with you guys while still maintaining our activities in Korea so watch out for us!

Hyunseung: Until now, I think it had been a time for us to make memories together. To everyone who sent a lot of love, we will see you soon with a nice appearance. Anticipate for us in the future. I love you all!

Everytime standing on a stage, and everytime with fans, we will give our best to perform, and enjoy the love that our fans gave us, this will be the best way to relieve our stress.

KK : Watching Movie, I will be able to to release the inner stress in me and forgot all the worries (laugh)

UW : According to the media, Dong Woon is currently learning chinese. Why do you specially want to study chinese?

DW : Im currently learning however, im not sure if i can learn it well. If everybody awaits my chinese language, I will try my utmost, hopefully I could shock everybody. Since young, people around me spoke chinese, so from then, I started learning chinese.

UW : Do the other members wish to learn new languages? Why?

DJ : I want to learn English, because participating in MBC Sunday Night Dambi will require us to travel oversea to film and I realize the importance of English to communicate with others.

JH : I also want to learn English. Because Rap requires lots of English.

YS : I want to learn Japan. As I have before, I want to continue learning to strengthen my japan language, so when we promote in Japan, I could shine handsomely. (Laugh)

HS : I has got a same feeling. (Laugh)

UW : Last month, you guys have been to Kyung Book with a group of fans to spent your 2D1N? Can you share the experience with us as regards to the experience you guys spent with the fans for the very first time?

DJ : It is the first time we have prepared this activity. Theres about 60 fans attending. If there is still more fans participating, it would be good. About 10 members in 1 team, we individually lead them as the leader, we played games, dined together, talk together, and talking about what we are good at, and even prepared a small music showcase, the feeling is even better than school fieldtrip as its more interesting.

DW : Its an opportunity not to get disturb, and only spending happy times with fans, the feeling is good.

YS : Able to express ourselve freely, its diferent from seeing us in the television and performance, allowing the fans to see our charm and character in the private. (Laugh)

KK : At the start, Im worried, I would`nt know how to spend with the fans. After spending some time with each other, surpringly, we are chatting as though like some very good friends, the time spent together was enjoyable and pleasant. Everybody because of BEAST has spent their time together, make me moved.

ELLEGIRL'S INTERVIEW WITH BEAST

EG: Because of your busy schedule, I heard you guys barely have time to sleep these days and practiced until 5am.? Is it true after end of your schedule, you guys usually go back and practice?
DJ: Yes, we need to practice being in sync in our choreography and practice singing.? Feel like we've only had few hours to sleep since we've debuted.. actually it started even before our debut...?
YS: I didn't realize the greater extent of knowing the joy of being able to eat and sleep whenever you felt like it till now...? to think our moms used to nag us to go to sleep and we didn't...

EG: How did the name B2ST came about?
DW: There were actually a lot of other potential names we'd considered back then... 6 icons=6con, Genghis Khan, 300, K6... didn't like any of them..
JH: As times passed we had a "it'll come as we go" attitude... but a month before our debut, a foreign choreographer [AJ] described our team as "so beast"...meaning "how awesome"... apparently it's a slang often used among dancers... Truthfully, when you look at the word, "Beast", it's often defined as a wild animal... already claimed by 2pm which worried us at first... As of now, we're content... We still get asked once in awhile...where the animal is among the members.? We're told that when we go on stage or become sleep deprived we become like animals...

EG: I'm curious, who among B2ST would you describe as animal-like?
EVERYONE: DJ!
HS: At first glance, you can tell he's a manly, handsome looking guy...with? a cool, manly personality.
YS: During one of the stage rehearsals, DJ accidentally hit my face... hard enough to get one angered...Right afterwards, he was like "why don't you just hit me back"... now really, how can I possibly hit him back?
DJ: Because I felt bad.

EG: Who amongst the members have known each other the longest?
DW: KK hyung and myself... it's been now almost 6yrs we first met, since JYP training days... Even back then, we were placed together in a group to practice singing... it's interesting how we ultimately ended up in the same team.
KK: DW is the same as before... He looks a bit more refined now... like today remained very passionate... a maknae who obeyed his hyungs very well.

EG: Considering you are similar in age and being so close, what are the pros and cons of being in the same group?
DJ: I think if there were to be a huge age gap, the older ones would try to dominate the younger ones... ultimately building up dissension and grudge against each other?? For us, we say what we want to say... If we had any grudge against each other, we try to reconcile at that moment... I'm pretty confident that we as a group are the closest compared to other korean idol groups.
JH: Since we already know each others' personalities pretty well, we barely even fight.? Because you will eventually develop a sense of awareness of when you should be cautious in certain situations and know when to bite your tongue and let things go... Because we've been close friends for so long, haven't seen any changes since our trainee days.

EG: It's been two months since you'd debuted, what was the most emotional memory you recall?
HS: Our first performance. After we came down from the stage, we were in a state of extreme excitement and regret all at the same time.? When I came back to the dorm and laid on my bed....that was when all the emotions hit me.?
DW: I only remembered my dad crying twice in my lifetime.? The time I decided to quit being a trainee and the time I talked to him on the phone after our very first B2ST performance... thanked him for believing in me over the years.? ?
KK: It's always emotional when I hear loud cheers from the fans... It's very thrilling and exciting...

EG: Honestly, you don't like hearing stories about being called rejected members or being known as longtime trainees, right?
HS: It's not all negative... overall, it's good because it makes the public know us a little bit more.?
JH: Because of the hardship we'd experience, it compelled us to become better members. I think a person coming into this world will have great difficulty in coping with hardship, if they have not experienced failures in the past...
DJ: I don't know about quitting after a failure... but we're all here, after debuting together...? On the contrary, compared to others, I feel that we have a stronger sense of pride, having experience of knowing that hardship was no easy feat...

EG:? Considering the overwhelming reason to quit due to hardships, why would you then wanted to become a singer?
KK: In short, it's a black hole.
JH: I started because I loved music.? As time passed, you begin to evolve to having a "this or nothing at all" perspective... Although thoughts of quitting have crossed my mind, my feet just wouldn't budge... Since I already started this journey...I've decided in my heart to persevere til I become the best.
HS: Although we have received a lot of attention and love at the same time... it's not all for selfish reasons to be in this profession... I hope people will not overlook at IDOL groups as simple-minded children.

EG: Let me now start asking questions to individual members.? DJ, I heard you played sports during your high school days?
DJ: Yes, I wanted to be a soccer player ever since i was young. Truthfully, there's still a small part of me that foolishly desire that.
YS: Will you leave us if you get scouted by a famous GuDan (soccer league??)
DJ: It was a joke.? As of now, because I'm having a lot fun and happy being able to sing, I'm okay...

EG: I heard there's a rumor that amongst the members, you're the most popular with the girls?
DJ: Not me, YS's very popular.
JH: Why are you acting so modest?? I used to watch him during the training days, and noticed that he was very popular with the girls.
KK: Among the fangirls, YS's most popular.? DJ has a style that girls would naturally fall for...

EG: Recently for "Sunday Sunday Night" filming, you went to Africa.
DJ: Yes.? It breaks my heart after seeing children in Africa.? I think my attitude has definitely changed since filming "Sunday Nite".? [I'm] learning to appreciate things around me more.? Also because I get to film with well respected sunbaes (senior celebs), I'm trying my best to not become a detriment on the show.

EG: KK, today you look very much like your character in "High Kick through the Roof".
KK:? You mean someone who likes sports, laughs a lot, and has an affection for one person??? The director actually tries really hard to place a lot of my character in SaeHo.? Ah, aside from one, I don't stalk.? Like SaeHo, I have had a one way love affair.? I only liked her.? Eventually had the courage to confess my affections and even went out with her.? But, because she had to move, we had to end it.

EG: Are there any future plans for you to continue to act and sing at the same time?
KK: Yes.? I really want to be in one of those heart-piercing, mellow love dramas.?

EG: Long training days, performing as a solo, and now debuting within a new group... what did you find most difficult?
KK: There were many regretful moments during my AJ solo days.? I think I didn't try harder enough.? I wished I could go back and do it all over again.

EG:? You seem to answer these questions with great struggle.? Do you happened to have the tendency to over think things?
HS: I tend to be indecisive.? Whether it's ordering a product or selecting things off the menu, I always have great difficulty making a decision, especially if there are more than two things i want.?
KK: Every time we eat out, he always asks us, "What are you ordering?"... "Is it good?"
YS: He's always the last one to order.? Just when the?ajumma's about to head back to the kitchen, he calls her out again and changes his order.

EG: Compared to other members, what can you confidently say that you're better at?
HS: I don't know, organizing my wardrobe?? After we come back from our activities, other members have the tendency to throw their clothes around... But I'm the type of person who can't sleep if I don't place things back to where it belongs... because clothes are precious to me.? I also tend to monitor my performances a lot.? Though it may seem self-conscious... it's never to a point where it gets out of hand.
JH: If we had a performance that very day, HS will monitor his performance all day long.? He'll even intricately monitor the camera steps.?? Even though other members may not see anything wrong with his performance, he gets depressed if the part he practiced on didn't come out well.? He's also the type with infinite stamina? who can, without sleep, exercise, and practice endlessly...

EG: YS, your name seems very unique. Is this your birth name?
YS: 대들보 양 (daedulbo Yang??) Light-like Yo, Fire-like Seob...? basically means to shine like fire.? Please note that all the other members also kept their birth name as well.

EG: There seems to be a lot of comments of "aegyo yoseob" on your cyworld left behind by your fans.
YS: Personally, I don't think i possess any sexy, manly-like attractive qualities.? When I was young, I hated hearing people calling me cute, but after debuting....apparently this inner aegyo [cutesy side], that had a different coloring to it, began to appear.? Even this non-aegyoish like aegyo started to appear in front of other members which gets them annoyed (laughs).
JH: When you look at YS, you would think he's the type of person that would keep his distance at arms length, but he's actually the one amongst the members who looks after us.? If there were to be a member who happened to be sick, he'll be the one who will buy the medicine for us... the type who'll stick by you till you start laughing if you're down...
DW: Also, the manly side of YS hyung could be seen in our follow up "Mystery" performances.

EG: JH, I heard that you'd receiving special encouragements from Tiger ShinSahDong producer?
JH: From the start of the album, I've gotten a lot of advice from him.? We still talk to each other on the phone these days. There were situations in the past, where he asked me to "try to come up with some melody and lyrics"... and situations now where I just come up with things here and there on my own.? I can't officially go into details now but you will be able to have the opportunity to hear something written by Yong JunHyung, shortly.

EG: As a rapper, whom were you most influenced by?
JH: Black rapper, Lil Wayne.? He's able to show a side that we've never seen before, which makes him a cool musician.? Although it may appear he's just standing around rapping on stage, he never performs "for the sake of doing it"... at times I feel that he does little things that people may often overlook.?

EG: Who do you think is the coolest male figure?
JH: Few days ago when I came back to the dorm to check on my voice mail msgs, there were msgs left from one of my high school friends, who had recently left for mandatory military service.? When I tried to call him back, the cell was already turned off and he had already left.? I felt horrible.?

I think a person who's found success and are able to continue to be in close contacts with his cronies is what defines a man to be cool.

EG: DW, is this "serious mode" a concept or are you normally this silent type?
DW: Normally, I'm very talkative but every time the camera turns on me, this part of me starts to disappear.? I'm the only one like this amongst our teammates.? However, my tongue will soon be loose.

EG: Do you know personally that you're good looking?? Like a male sculpture figure?
KK: Jang DongGun, WonBin, Kang DongWon and then he says that it's him... hahaha.
DW: That was just a joke.? I think when I was young I used to think I was a good looking kid.? Apparently, when ajummas from the neighborhood would pass by and often comment, my mom would said that I would turn to her and ask, "Why is that ajumma telling me I'm good looking?"

EG: As you turn 20, what is it that you want to do most?
DW: I want to go to a club. Actually, not to long ago, all of the hyungs performed at the club.? I was the only one who wasn't able to attend.? Was left by myself...eating cup ramyun noodles at the training room, and was watching uploaded videos captured by fans who were at the club.? I was very bitter.

EG: As a 6 member group, what are your future dreams for B2ST?
DJ: Korea's longest standing group.? I want for us to be like this for a long time. This is what I tell the members all the time, "Let's have fun together as long as we can."
JH: The mark of being able to participate in the first album, to showcase distinct personal talents and to perform freely on stage is what makes B2ST members attractive.?? As we continue to develop these skills, we hope to one day make people recognize and say "ah that's B2STly style"... that's our target.?
KK: Considering we will probably be going to start overseas activities next year, I would like for us to receive Asia's Best Male Group Award.?

EG: As the Christmas season is slowly approaching, do you have any plans coming up?
DW: If we have anything scheduled, I would like for all 6 of us to go out and eat something good.? Then again, it worries me if we don't have anything scheduled coming up.?
KK: Don't you remember, DJ and HS are going to be on SeBaKi (variety show) on Christmas Eve?
JH: I heard they make you do random things on New Wheel.? You should prepare a lot.
DJ: We'll continue to be active non-stop till the end the year.? Beginning tomorrow in Incheon, we'll be starting our countrywide fan-signing events.?
KK: Woah.? Are we finally starting to "make 10,000 fans"? (It was a show back in the day)
